Company Profiles: Cynde Houston
Cynde Houston majored in Hotel & Restaurant Administration at the University of Southern Mississippi She joined MMI Dining Systems in 1994 as Assistant Food Services Director for Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. For the past 11 years she has served as Food Service Director at the college. During her tenure, Belhaven was for three years recognized as the “MMI Dining Systems Contract Property of the Year”. In addition, the operation received the “Service Edge Award” for 2001 and 2002.
Over her twenty-year career in the Food Service industry, Cynde’s experience has included healthcare, extensive catering, the operation of specialty coffee shops and the marketing of food service equipment. Her passion, however, is College/School Food Services. The key to Cynde’s successful management approach is her ability to build relationships with students - from first grade to college graduates - as well as with faculty, staff and guests. Her expertise in specialized meals has enabled her to create a food service program that caters to the dietary needs of student groups ranging from football players to ballet dancers. She is skilled in developing and implementing events of all sizes - from preparing 3000 boxed lunches for company meetings to filling unique food requests for international dance competitions. Cynde is the district manager responsible for College/School, Business/Industry and Healthcare accounts of the Mississippi/Alabama Division of MMI Dining Systems. Her extensive experiences in daily operations gives her the ability to train and support unit managers. Cynde carefully grooms them to their full potential, that mentoring skill develops a staff who can produce 100% Customer Satisfaction for MMI Clients.
